First Step Basketball was established in 2004 by Lorenzo Hall a former Division I coach and collegiate player. Services include private training, team workouts, camps, clinics, tournaments and motivational speaking.
The goal of First Step is to help develop young inspiring ball players to achieve their full potential as an athlete, student and to teach essential life skills. The philosophy of founder Lorenzo Hall is simple, "Strive for nothing less than best."
Through the right development program, participants will not only learn the fundamentals of basketball, but will learn how to apply the discipline required to be a successful athlete in other areas of their life. Coach Hall has a straightforward approach on the relationship of sports and success: The most important lessons a person needs to learn to be successful in life are taught on the basketball court.
"Teaching balance on and off the court is essential!"
The foundation of First Step philosophy is discipline and passion.
· Discipline is getting players to do the right thing and doing it that way every single time.
· Nothing great can be accomplished without passion.
On the basketball court, we want players to have the attitude that they will play hard, play unselfish and have fun. If a team can accomplish this, they will develop a solid foundation; the kind of foundation that has historically been found in successful basketball programs.
Because we believe it is our responsibility to develop each player to his/her full potential, on and off the court, we never lose sight of our role as educators and coaches. The game of basketball is a great tool and is a very effective way to communicate with youth.
